That was announced by deputy Minister Vu Van Tam yesterday.
The fishing boats have been built under the Government’s Decree 67 by Nam Trieu and Dai Nguyen Duong shipbuilding companies.
The Ministry of Public Security has required Nam Trieu Company to repair the incident in the next two months.
According to primary conclusions by an assessment team from the ministry, the newly built boats have been damaged in Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces because of faults by the shipbuilding firms.
In related news, fishermen in the north central province of Thanh Hoa reported that a steel vessel built by Hai Duong joint stock company under Decree 67 has been continuously damaged right after being put into operation. The boat built at VND18 billion (US$352,000) belongs to fisherman Nguyen Duy Muon in Quang Cu commune, Sam Son city.
Deputy minister Vu Van Tam said that he has proposed Thanh Hoa province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to inspect the case and send writing report to the ministry.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang, chairman of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, said that the association has proposed the Directorate of Fisheries and the ministry to require shipbuilding companies to repair damaged vessels so that fishermen can resume fishing as soon as possible.
