Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Minister of Health, on July 30 sent an urgent dispatch to chairpersons of people’s committees in provinces and cities to enhance supervision of all vaccination procedures.
As per the dispatch, the Minister has asked municipal and provincial leaders to implement vaccination procedures according to set regulations of the Ministry. Medical workers must provide full consultation to parents or relatives of an infant prior to vaccination.
The Ministry has also ordered a thorough inspection of vaccination procedures currently being followed in provinces and cities. Inspectors should suspend or issue harsh fines on violating medical units as well as individuals who commit wrongdoings in procedures.
In case an incident takes place, related-health agencies should be quick to investigate the cause and publicize to the public. Any person who commits a mistake must acknowledge wrongdoing in writing.
Provincial and municipal leaders should purchase more advanced equipment for vaccination, especially deep freezers to preserve vaccines.
