The south-central province of Khanh Hoa should focus on the development of industry, tourism and services; and should also prioritize the sustainable development of forest and sea areas, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong said January 29.
He made the statement during a visit to the province, adding that he appreciated the achievements of Khanh Hoa in its socioeconomic development.
Since 2006, the province has seen an annual average GDP growth rate of 11 percent.
Mr. Trong emphasized, however, that the province must focus on sustainable growth.
In the process of developing Nha Trang City into a popular tourist destination, Khanh Hoa should ensure environmental protection, cultural preservation, and take measures to prevent social evils, he added.
The NA chairman also visited Khanh Vinh District’s mountainous commune of Khanh Thanh, where nearly 90 percent of the population are ethnic minorities.
In addition, he visited and offered gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in Ninh Hoa District.
