The Japanese Government has provided US$406,147 for child nutritional projects in Vietnam as part of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects.
At the ceremony, Hideo Suzuki, Charge D'affaires at the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and Mina Funakoshi, Project Manager of Plan Japan, signed the contract for the project “Promoting alternatives for child nutrition for the poorest of the poor”, at the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam on December 19.
In the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, the rate of malnutrition among children is more than 20 percent. Save the Children Japan, in cooperation with the Department of Health and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Yen Bai Province, will make efforts in improving child nutrition through activities such as food security, increasing cash income and improving awareness on health and nutrition in Van Chan District, which has the highest poverty rate in Yen Bai Province.
