The 5th edition of the festival aims to honor artisans, traditional craft villages and famous silk and brocade making sites at home and abroad. It also promotes Hoi An heritage and tailoring services, which is regarded as the “Silk craft and sewing center” model, to international visitors and silk producers in the world.
Leading producers of he world's silk industry from Italia, France, China, Japan, India, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam will present their products at the event.
The festival will see the presence of more than 80 embroidery and textile artisans from traditional craft villages throughout the country, such as Van Phuc, Nha Xa, Ma Chau, My Duc, Nam Cao, Tan Chau; and craft villages of Cham People in Ninh Thuan Porvince, Co Tu People in the Central, Khmer ethnic people in An Giang province. They will perform traditional arts of dyeing and weaving.
Highlights of the festival are a seminar on application of advanced technologies for silk production, silk and silk culture in the modern life; the introduction of Quang Nam province’s silk river running through Hoi An town; My Son Sanctuary; silk villages of Hoi An, Ma Chau; Go Noi cotton-growing and textile-manufacturing area along Thu Bon river, Giao Thuy silk farming.
