On behalf of the Party Committee, authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc of the municipal People’s Committee affirmed that after 81 years of nation-building and development, particularly following 40 years of the Doi Moi ( Reform) process, Vietnam has emerged as a developing country and ranks among the world’s 40 largest economies. The country’s stature, potential, position and international standing have continued to improve.
According to Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc, Ho Chi Minh City is fully aware that no city can become a global city if it develops within a closed space. Therefore, alongside promoting its internal strengths, the city has identified expanding external relations and international integration as particularly important requirements for achieving its development goals.
Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to effectively tap into global sources of capital, knowledge, technology, management experience and advanced development models; actively and proactively contribute more to regional and international cooperation networks; and make external relations a direct driver of the city’s development.
Looking back at Ho Chi Minh City’s more than half-century journey of construction and development, the city chairman affirmed that every achievement has resulted not only from the will and efforts of individuals, but also from the consensus, unity and collective efforts of the entire Party Committee, authorities, people and business community of the city. The valuable assistance of numerous international friends has supported this.
On behalf of the authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc expressed his most sincere and profound gratitude to Party and State leaders; central agencies, ministries, sectors and localities across the country; countries and cities around the world; international partners, foreign investors and friends from the five continents; and, in particular, the millions of overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese people living abroad who have always shown concern for and maintained close ties with the city, extending their affection, trust and heartfelt solidarity.
The chairman emphasized that the contributions of all walks of life have played an important role in creating the remarkable development achievements of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh today.
Representing the Consular Corps in Ho Chi Minh City, Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed that Vietnam is not only a close friend and an important partner, but also a country that shares many similarities with numerous other nations. Each side has its own distinct experiences, diverse perspectives and complementary strengths in the process of cooperation.
Consul General Wiraka Moodhitaporn expressed her confidence that, with its expanded development space and role as the economic and international hub of the Southern region, Ho Chi Minh City will become a stronger driving force for growth, innovation and international cooperation.
