According to the plan, the city will strive to build 20,000 social houses and 35,000 collective accommodations for workers at industrial parks and 10,000 collective accommodations for students.
From 2017 to 2020, it will focus on developing 37 projects; supplying 43,624 apartments with the total area of 134 hectares and strive to complete and put into operation 29 projects with nearly 19,500 apartments.
In addition, the city is expected to complete eight accommodation projects for workers with 5,000 rooms able to accommodate 31,180 workers.
In 2017, work will start on a dormitory project for students with the total floor area of 4,000 square meters.
In the upcoming time, HCMC will develop many types of social housing comprising projects for sale, for lease and lease purchase to meet housing demand of residents, civil servants and low income people.
These projects will provide diversified area apartments with prices from VND300 million ($13,200) to VND1 billion ($44,000) an apartment to suit residents’ payment ability.
