Song Lang, a drama about cai luong (reformed opera), a genre of traditional theater in the South was nominated in the “Asian Future” at the 31st Tokyo International Film Festival took place on October 25-31. The movie also made its premiere at the Opening International Premiere in the festival.
The organizing board also selected the best films to award the golden lotus prizes in the field of documentary film and cartoon for works, including Chong Chenh (Tottering) by the Vietnam Television and Nguoi Hung Ao Vai (From Zero to Hero) by the Vietnam Animation Studio respectively.
“Best Actress” and “Best Actor” awards belonged to Hoang Yen Chibi in the film Thang nam ruc ro (Go Go Sisters) and Tran Thanh in the film Cua Lai Vo Bau (Win My Baby Back).
“Best Supporting Actress” and “Best Supporting Actor” prizes respectively granted to Cat Vi in the film Hai Phuong (Furie) and I Saac in the film Song Lang (The Tap Box)
The best director prizes in categories of feature film, documentary film and animation went to Le Nhat Quang for the picture "Song Lang", Tran Tuan Hiep for the movie “O Noi Cua Ngo Hoang Sa” (The gateways of of Paracel Islands) and Vu Duy Khanh for the cartoon “Vang sang am ap” (Father and son).
The organizers also presented other titles, Silver Lotus, the Jury Awards, Best Music Designer, Best Sound Designer, Best Screenwriter, Best Cameraman, Audience Choice Prize.
The 21st Vietnam Film Festival themed ‘Developing a national, humanistic, creative and integrated cinema industry of Vietnam’ opened in Vung Tau city in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau on November 23.
The event attracted 116 movies featuring in categories of featured movies, documentaries, scientific films and animated movies.
The Vietnam Film Festival jointly organized by the Department of Cinema under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the National Cinema Center aims to honor local cinematographic works featuring traditional characteristics, humanity and creativity; and pay tribute to movie makers and artists who have made outstanding contributions to the national movie industry.
The 22nd Vietnam Film Festival 2020 will be held in Hue City in Thua Thien-Hue province.
