On the evening of August 21, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that it had issued a document to provincial and municipal Departments of Education and Training and Vietnam Education Publishing House on ensuring textbook supplies for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The ministry requested that the Departments of Education and Training direct general education institutions to urgently review and report on their textbook preparations to date. The review must specifically compare the number of textbooks registered with the number already procured or supplied and clarify any shortages by grade, subject, and title. Based on the review, schools must establish specific plans and timelines to complete textbook supplies.
The Departments of Education and Training are required to review and consolidate reports from schools to determine the additional textbook needs of each institution and submit the information to Vietnam Education Publishing House by August 25.
The ministry tasked the departments with proactively coordinating with Vietnam Education Publishing House to develop appropriate plans to ensure textbooks are supplied conveniently, adequately, and on time before August 30, preventing any textbook shortages from occurring without a response plan.
The Ministry of Education and Training also asked Vietnam Education Publishing House to closely coordinate with provincial and municipal Departments of Education and Training to fully consolidate and update actual textbook demand for the new 2026-2027 academic year.
Based on the demand, the publisher is required to develop specific supply plans and ensure that all schools receive sufficient textbooks before August 30. Priority should be given to direct coordination between schools and suppliers, while minimizing intermediaries.
