Construction of the Viet Tri Bridge on National Highway No. 2 kicked off in Viet Tri City in the northern province of Phu Tho on November 30.
The bridge on Lo River will be 736.5 meters long and 22.5 meters wide, with six lanes for vehicles, and will cost around VND1,900 billion (nearly US$ 90 million) .
The project will be a joint venture of CIENCO 1, Yen Khanh and Thai Son Companies, selected by the Ministry of Transport to be investors.
The new bridge will help reduce traffic jams and meet travel demand of people in Vinh Phuc, PhuTho and other North-Western Provinces. It will also ease the rush during the Hung Kings' Temple Festival at the Hung Kings Temple Site in the northern province of Phu Tho.
The bridge is expected to complete by 2015.
