Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper on Sunday handed out VND1.5 billion (US$75,000) to Ha Tinh Province People’s Committee for a fund to build 50 houses of gratitude. The newspaper also presented 100 scholarships, VND2 million each, to provincial authorities.

The funding came from the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) through the newspaper charity program Nghia Tinh Truong Son (Sentimental Attachment for Truong Son Road).
The program is designed to support war invalids and martyrs’ families and students, who live along Truong Son Road in the central province of Ha Tinh.
At the funding presentation ceremony, SGGP and Vietcombank representatives handed fund to build four houses of gratitude, worth VND30 million ($1,500) each to four families including Tran Thanh Hai, Pham Hong Xuyen, Tran Van Tho and Vu Van Thanh.
SGGP’s representatives also offered more ten houses of gratitude, which were financed by Phong Phu Corporation, worth VND300 million ($15,000) for war invalids and martyrs’ families and poor people in the province.
