A 500kV electricity grid linking Pleiku – My Phuoc – Cau Bong became operational on May 5 and was taken over by the National Power Transmission Company.

The grid, built by monopoly state power distributor Electricity of Vietnam, will keep supply to the southern region stable during the dry season.

It will also enable import of electricity from Laos and coordination of the networks in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from next year.

The 427km grid, extending from the Pleiku electrical substation in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai to Ho Chi Minh City, includes double circuits with four lines per circuit.
