Vietnamese authorities have been forced to return 50,000 tons of cattle feed imported from India due to insect infestation.
The Plant Quarantine Division under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) discovered the imported cattle feed from India made of corn, barley, soya bean and millet to be infested with harmful insects since last August.
The responsible agency had earlier also sent five documents concerning this matter to the International Plant Protection Convention and to its counterpart in India and to the India Embassy in Vietnam to ask the importing country to follow strict international regulations with a warning that Vietnam will re-export all containers if the relevant agencies detected infested cattle feed.
Presently 50,000 tons of cattle feed is being loaded at Hai Phong Harbor to be re-exported back to India as per the previous warning.
MARD has sent a detailed report to the Prime Minister on March 1, explaining the case.
