313 additional kilometers of expressways to be built in Southern Vietnam

The Ministry of Transport said that after 2030, additional 313 kilometers of expressways will be built in Southern Vietnam with total investment of VND44 trillion (US$ 1.8 billion).

The Ministry yesterday announced to submit a plan of freeway system in the country by 2020 with the vision to 2030.
Next year, seven expressways will be built across the country.
As per the plan, by 2030, around 6,418 kilometer highways will be built including 950 kilometer ones in the Southern region. The Ministry added that of 932 kilometer expressways worth VND129 trillion will be built countrywide after 2030, 313 kilometer expressways will be built in the Southern region and 181 kilometer freeways worth VND30 trillion will be built in the Central region and Central Highlands.
According to the submission to the Prime Minister, three new expressways including Dien Bien – Son La- Hoa Binh, Cho Moi – Bac Kan and Ha Giang – Noi Bai – Lao Cai will be built in the Northern region.
One new expressway will be built in the central and central highland regions to connect Ngoc Hoi and Bo Y border gate in the central highland province of Kon Tum.
Three new motorways will be built in the South including Go Dau – Xa Mat border gate, Hong Ngu – Tra Vinh (from the Mekong delta province of Dong Thap to Tra Vinh Province), and expansion of Chau Doc – Can Tho- Soc Trang to Tran De Port.
