Vietnam Electricity Group broke ground for the first phase of the 5.5 MW Cong Hai Wind Power Plant in Ninh Thuan Province on May 19.

It is being built on a 20-hectare site at Suoi Gieng village in Thuan Bac District at a cost of VND 191 billion (US$9.1 million ).
The plant will consist of three turbines with a capacity of 1 MW each based on Russian technology.
It is expected to become operational next February, when it will begin to supply power to rural users.
Another 2.5 MW will be added in the second phase.
