Winners of 2016 Ton Duc Thang Award to be announced in August

The ceremony of the annual Ton Duc Thang Award  honoring outstanding workers in Ho Chi Minh City will be held in August, according to the event’s organization board at a press conference on July 11.

The year the jury board received 42 personal files of nominees from state-owned enterprises, private businesses, and foreign invested enterprises.

The laureates are technicians, managers, engineers and workers who have worked hard, applied advanced technology to improve quality of products, create cost-effective production techniques; made outstanding contribution in working, training and sharing experience with next generations.

The award was established for the first time by Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper and Labor Union of Ho Chi Minh City in 2000.

The award is named after late State President Ton Duc Thang who was a worker at Ba Son Shipping Yard in 1930s and then elected State President after President Ho Chi Minh passed away in 1969.

The award has been given to 162 technicians and workers comprising 20 females from mechanics-manufacturing, electricity-industrial electronics, chemical-rubber-plastics and food processing.
