The World Bank recently agreed to provide Viet Nam with a non-profit credit of over US$4 billion to support its efforts in development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction for the next five years of 2007-2011.

The credit is part of the World Bank's 2007-2011 Country Partnership Strategy for Viet Nam, which was recently approved by its Board of Executive Directors.

A ceremony to announce the strategy is scheduled to be held in Ha Noi on February 6 under the chairmanship of the WB Vice President for Asia and the Pacific, James Adam.

Apart from efforts in development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, WB said it will support Viet Nam to carry out the country’s commitments with other WTO country members, improve its state-owned banking system, public finance, administrative reform, anti-corruption, and legal systems.
