VN-Index slightly recovers

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rebounded the first time on three days on September 27 as stocks of BVH and MSN recovered, however, investors were not ready for disbursement.

The gauge of 296 companies and five closed-end funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange regained 0.7 percent, or 3.04 points, to open week at 437.47 points.

On the index, 107 stocks advanced, 110 retreated, while 84 treaded water.

Trading on the city bourse improved by 13 percent in volume and nearly 10 percent in value over the previous day as around 40 million shares changed hands at a value of VND697 billion.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) continued to be the most active share by volume for a second day with 1.91 million shares changing hands.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) took the second rank with 1.2 million shares, followed by Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, with 1.1 million shares.

Tai Nguyen Corporation (TNT) curbed its seven-day losing streak, resurrecting 4.95 percent to VND10,600.

Lao Cai Mineral Exploitation & Processing Joint Stock Company (LCM) escalated for eight consecutive trading sessions, building up 4.93 percent to VND31,900.

SPM Joint Stock Company (SPM) revived 4.91 percent to close at VND42,700.

Ha Tien 1 Cement Joint Stock Company (HT1) slumped 8.16 percent to VND4,500.

Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) collapsed 6.25 percent to VND1,500.

Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) sank 5 percent to VND47,500 after treading water for three straight days.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north slid 0.08 percent, or 0.06 points, to finish at 73.34 points. Liquidity on the northern trading floor rose by 30 percent as around 46.28 million shares changed hands at a value of VND519.35 billion.

The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares also jumped 0.78 percent, or 0.24 points, to 31 points. A total of 171,004 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.04 billion at 2:20 pm local time.
