Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index advanced for the second day on March 7 due to support from blue-chip stocks as low prices boosted investors’ demand.
The shares of 281 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange shot up 1.69 percent, or 8.99 points, to close at 468.22 points.
Among the index members, 134 increased, 73 declined, while 79 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse raised by 28 percent in volume and 16 percent in value over the previous trading session as 23.63 million shares changed hands at a value of VND547 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, led the list of most active shares in volume with 1.68 million shares changing hands.
Vietnam Mechanization Electrification & Construction Joint Stock Company (MCG) followed with 962,970 shares changed hands.
Investment and Trading of Real Estate Joint Stock Company (ITC) came next with 743,570 shares.
Rang Dong Plastic Joint Stock Company (RDP) moved the first time in three days, springing 4.88 percent to close at VND12,900.
Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) restored 4.84 percent to VND6.500.
Vietnam House Joint Stock Company (NVN) capped its four-day losing streak, gaining 4.83 percent to VND21,700.
Sai Gon Machinery Spare Parts Joint Stock Company (SMA) slumped 8.82 percent to VND9,300.
Cu Chi Commercial & Industrial Developing Investment Joint Stock Company (CCI) deleted 5.71 percent to VND16,500.
Domesco Medical Import Export Joint Stock Corporation (DMC) trimmed 4.95 percent to VND21,100.
The smaller bourse in the north made a contrast move as the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of slipped 0.31 percent, or 0.28 points, to close at 90.65 points. Trading volume rose by 50 percent over the previous trading session as 37.2 million shares worth VND465.03 billion changed hands.
Meanwhile, the UPCom-Index of unlisted shares market slightly inched up 0.02 points to 39.24 points this morning. A total of 151,500 shares changed hands at a value of VND2.59 billion.
