Vietnamese President welcomes US Senator

State President of Vietnam Mr. Tran Dai Quang yesterday received a delegation of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services led by Senator John McCain at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

At the meeting, President Tran Dai Quang affirmed that Vietnam always considers the United States as one of the country's important partners, and is ready for comprehensive partnership development between the two nations based on mutual respect of political regulations, general benefits for regional peace, stability and development. 

In the spirit of enhancing two way trade relations between Vietnam and the United States, the Vietnamese leader suggested the U.S National Assembly to continue supporting abrogation of the U.S Agricultural Ministry’s catfish inspection program.

Besides that, the President also desired the partner to continue assisting Vietnam in detoxification chemical treatment in Da Nang and Bien Hoa airport; searching and rescuing the collaboration in natural disasters, and mutual industrial and defense cooperation.

Senator John McCain affirmed that the United States would support Vietnam in polluted environment and dioxin treatment, overcoming post- war consequences.

The US senator expressed an outlook of his country in supporting freedom of trade, maritime and aviation between nations.
