Vietnam to raise export, import growth

Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade, said that to raise export growth to more than 10 percent they need to develop new commodity goods using high technology.

This move will meet with consumption trends across the world and the country’s export strategy. In addition, the ministry will focus on available sectors such as aquaculture, farm produce, textile and garments, and electronics. Gradually, the country will increase the proportion of new export commodities and also attract local and overseas investments in these sectors.

Moreover, the ministry will cut down those sectors causing environmental pollution and encourage import of high and advanced technologies. Efforts will be made to curb smuggling of commodity goods. Trade gap will also be maintained at 6 percent or lower.
