By 2020, there will be more than 30 million middle and affluent consumers in Vietnam, according to a publication by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm and the world's leading advisor on business strategy.
In its latest publication “Vietnam: Southeast Asia's New Growth Frontiers”, BCG announced that the middle and affluent class will double in size in Vietnam by 2020 meanwhile the figure is currently at 15 percent. As per its study, average income of a Vietnamese people is VND5-7 million and high income is VND15-30 million a household.
BCG's Center for Consumer and Customer Insight (CCCI) conducted primary research in which it analyzed population and income trends in nearly 1,400 districts in Vietnam. It also surveyed 2,000 urban Vietnamese consumers about their purchases in 20 categories of consumer goods.
