Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) organized an exchange program under theme of “Trade relations between Vietnam and South Africa” on June 23.
According to VCCI, the trade turnover between Vietnam and South Africa reached US$ 1, 2 billion in 2015, including export and import turnover respectively being US$ over 1 billion and US$ 123 million.
In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s two- ways trade turnover reached at US$ 362 million, including US$ 332 million for export turnover and US$ 30 million for import turnover.
The main Vietnamese products exported to the South African market are cell- phone and its accessories, footwear, coffee, rice, textile and garment. Meanwhile, the South African products imported into the Vietnam market including iron and steel, chemical, fertilizer and others.
South African Honorary Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City Mrs. Do Thi Kim Lien said that both sides strive to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$ 2, 2 billion in 2016. As this reason, Vietnam Embassy in South Africa will continue boost economic diplomatic activities and trade promotion programs.
