Vietnam hosts Int’l Federation of Surveyors Conference

The 2019 International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Conference under theme “Geospatial information for a smarter life and environmental resilience” was opened in capital city of Hanoi on April 23.

This is the first time Vietnam hosted the international conference about global cartography and surveying.

According to Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa, the conference is considered as a good opportunity for Vietnam to learn experiences, promote development and achievements in the field of surveying, cartography, remote sensing and geospatial data, and to seek solutions in climate change, sea level rise, environmental protection, etc that Vietnam has been facing.

The FIG conference 2019 aims to mark the 60th anniversary of Surveying and Mapping Day of Vietnam and 30 years of establishment of the Vietnam Association of Geodesy, Cartography and Remote Sensing (VGCR). 

The event will last until April 26.
