The closing session was attended by Politburo members: Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, and head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission Truong Thi Mai.
During the last sitting, the congress agreed to keep the number of the members of the VFF Central Committee for the 2019-2024 tenure at 385, 374 of whom were appointed at the event while the remaining 11 will be added later.
Reporting on the outcomes of the first meeting of the 9th-tenure VFF Central Committee, which was held on the last working day of the congress, Vice President of the 8th-tenure VFF Central Committee Nguyen Huu Dung said the 9th-tenure committee will have a 62-member presidium and a six-member standing board.
President of the 8th-tenure VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man will continue holding this post for the 9th tenure. Hau A Lenh, Vice President and Secretary General in the last tenure, will also serve on these positions for another term.
On behalf of the 9th-tenure VFF Central Committee, Man affirmed that the committee will continue upholding and building on the achievements and experience obtained during the previous terms. It will effectively implement the Party’s guidelines and resolutions and the State’s policies and laws, while ensuring solidarity and consensus within itself.
The committee will also unceasingly make self-improvement to deserve being the representative of political, social-political and social organisations; people of all strata, ethnic groups and religions; and overseas Vietnamese, he stressed.
Man added that to fulfill its tasks, the VFF Central Committee wishes to continue receiving the Party’s attention, state agencies’ effective coordination, joint efforts of member organisations and its committees at all levels, and especially support from all the Vietnamese people both at home and abroad.
Themed “Solidarity – Democracy – Reform – Development”, the congress called on the people nationwide and overseas to join hands and bring into play their patriotism and determination to weather all difficulties and challenges; build a strong political system; firmly safeguard national independence, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity; and develop and defend the country.
The delegates approved the congress’s resolution and the political report submitted by the 8th-tenure VFF Central Committee.
