Vietnam arrests fugitive Phan Van Anh Vu

The Ministry of Public Security’s Security Investigation Agency received and arrested fugitive Phan Van Anh Vu on January 4 after he was deported from Singapore.

Phan Van Anh Vu, a 43-year resident in Hai Chau district, central Da Nang city, had violated Vietnam’s laws and fled the country, according to the ministry’s statement.
The ministry’s Security Investigation Agency issued an arrest warrant for Vu on December 21, 2017.
Phan Van Anh Vu violated the Immigration Act of Singapore and has been deported, the ministry said.
After receiving and arresting Vu on January 4, the Security Investigation Agency will further investigate Vu’s case according to Vietnamese law, the ministry added.
Earlier, the Agency launched legal proceedings against Phan Van Anh Vu for “deliberately disclosing state secrets” in accordance with Article 263 of the Penal Code.
