Typhoon Damrey leaves Khanh Hoa VND13.5 trillion damage

The central province of Khanh Hoa alone suffered damage VND13.5 trillion (US$594.48 million) with the worst hit being seafood farming in the aftermath of Typhoon Damrey, making landfall in the south central region of Vietnam early this month.

That number was nearly double compared to the province’s report to the Government a week ago.
The province alone has reported 44 dead, one missing and 212 injured people; 2,792 houses completely collapsed, 114,098 roofless and 1,141 boats wrecked.
In addition, 29,381 hectares of farming crops have been damaged, 133,023 hectares of seafood farming area and 68,864 fish rafts swept away.
Operations to remedy the typhoon’s consequences have been ongoing. So far, all students have returned to school and power supply has been resumed in many localities.
