Transport Minister speeds up construction, expansion of southern airports

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The on January 7 presided over a meeting to speed up the progress of some aviation infrastructure projects including Long Thanh International Airport construction and Tan Son Nhat International Airport expansion.

According to Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), JFV consulting Service company has updated data for establishment of the feasibility study report of Long Thanh airport project, counted the capacity limit of Tan Son Nhat Airport, forecast aviation traffic demand in HCMC and studied exploitation division measure between Tan Son Nhat and Long Thanh.
Basing on the selected architectural design of Long Thanh airport, the consulting firm has started the basic design of the airport’s terminal and aircraft boneyard and others.
The feasibility study report of Long Thanh airport is expected to be done in June 2019. Afterwards, the Government will assess the report before submitting it to the National Assembly for approval in October. The Government is scheduled to pass the project in December this year.
ACV and consulting firms have completed documents to ask for the Prime Minister’s investment policy of Tan Son Nhat airport expansion, basing on the feasibility study report of the project.
Minister Nguyen Van The said that the Ministry of Transport will strive to reduce time on survey, design, consultancy and auction to implement the project as soon as possible.
