‘Ton Duc Thang Award’ presented to outstanding workers

The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the City Labor Union and Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper on Saturday hosted a ceremony to present the Ton Duc Thang Award to 11 outstanding workers in the City.

The event marked the 124th birth anniversary of the late President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888).

The ceremony was attended by many HCMC leaders and Nguyen Tan Phong, editor-in-chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper. Also present were 500 workers and students from Cao Thang Technical College and Ton Duct Thang University.

Nguyen Huy Can, chairman of the HCMC Labor Union, said that the awardees were those who have worked hard and applied advanced technology to improve and create cost-effective production techniques and shown concern for the working environment of their   workers.

These outstanding individuals have used scientific research to improve conditions and techniques that have benefited their companies.

The selected individuals for the Ton Duc Thang Award are technicians, managers and workers who were born post 1975 and worked with a positive frame of mind in activities at grassroots level in labor unions.

A total of 115 workers have won the Ton Duc Thang Award over the last 11 years.
