Thousands of books were given to students in suburban districts at a ceremony held yesterday.
The program was initiated by the Vietnam Publishing Association in Ho Chi Minh City and it is supported by the city committee of Communist Youth Union, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Information and Communications and the General Science Library in HCMC.
Around 60 people and organizations have so far contributed over thousands of books to the program totally worth VND700 million (US$32,220).
It is scheduled that in the end of August, books will be sent to schools.
