Swing-for-life day out creates $10,000 for the needy

This year’s Mövenpick Charity Golf Tournament has raised a fund of VND200 million, or about US$10,000, for two charitable organizations in Vietnam, the organizers said.

The proceeds from the event, attended by about 140 amateur golfers on May 14, are set aside for Koto and Heartbeat Vietnam.

“Heartbeat Vietnam is an organization that is well known in this country for saving the lives of children by providing lifesaving heart surgeries,” said Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts general manager Vietnam, Knuth Kiefer.

“The Koto organization provides training on life skills and hospitality skills for disadvantaged children, giving them an opportunity to find work and stable jobs to support their lives and that of their families,” he added.

The participating golfers included regional business executives, diplomats, heads of international companies and foreign expatriates living in Vietnam.

Korean man Jang An Soo was the men’s champion of the charity event, which took place at Song Be Golf Course in the southern province of Binh Duong. Meanwhile, his compatriot Park Chong Sook won the women’s event.

This is the third charity golf event the two hotels have organized for needy children.
