Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index jumped the most in nearly two months on October 21 as most blue-chip rebounded after a report showed that CPI growth of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities was less than 0.2 percent in October.
The benchmark which tracks 297 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange shot up 1.81 percent, or 7.3 points, to close at 411.03 points.
On the southern trading floor, 170 stocks edged up, 65 went down, while 67 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse improved by 75 percent in volume and 32 percent in value over the previous day as 32.6 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND548 billion.
Tan Tao Investment & Technology Joint Stock Company (IJC) led the list of most active shares in volume with 2 million shares changing hands.
Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) chased after with 1.4 million shares traded, followed by Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) with 1.11 million shares.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) sprang 7.14 percent to VND1,500.
Bao Viet Holdings (KSH) revived 5 percent to VND63,000.
Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII) snapped its five-day losing streak, resurrecting 4.95 percent to VND21,200.
Sai Gon Vien Dong Technology Joint Stock Company (SVT), Dong Do Marine Joint Stock Company (DDM), and Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) subsided 5 percent to close at VND9,500, VND3,800, and VND45,600 respectively.
Seaprodex Refrigeration Industry Corporation (SRF) and Viet Nhat Medical Instrument Joint Stock Company (JVC) both trimmed 4.98 percent to VND21,000, and VND19,100 respectively.
Hang Xanh Motors Service Joint Stock Company (HAX) pared 4.92 percent to VND5,800.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north also performed well. The measure of 393 companies regained 2.08 percent, or 1.41 points, to finish at 69.13 points. Nearly 40 million shares changed hands at a value of VND360 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares rallied 0.36 percent, or 0.11 points, to 30.37 points at 1:45 pm local time. A total of 159,570 shares changed hands at a value of VND963 million.
