Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index advanced for the third day amid draining liquidity on October 24 as blue-chip stocks continued to buoy the market performance.
The shares of 297 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange surged 0.83 percent, or 3.43 points, to close at 414.46 points.
Of the index, 90 stocks enhanced, 117 weakened, while 95 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse slid by 34 percent in volume and 37 percent in value over the previous day as 21.46 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND347 billion.
Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was the most active share in volume with 1.29 million shares changing hands.
Binh Duong Trade and Development Joint Stock Company (TDC) took the second place with 968,350 shares.
Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) came next with 935,340 shares traded.
Binh Dinh Minerals Joint Stock Company (BMC) climbed for four straight trading sessions, building up 4.96 percent to VND29,600.
Viet Thang Feed Joint Stock Company (VTF) heaved 4.95 percent to VND19,100.
Masan Group (MSN) grew 4.92 percent to close at VND128,000.
Mien Trung Petroleum Construction Joint Stock Company (PXM) and Savimex Corporation (SAV) fell the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent to VND7,600, and VND22,800 respectively.
Song Da Urban & Industrial Zone Investment & Development Joint Stock Company (SJS) ruined 4.98 percent to VND24,800.
Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Joint Stock Company 584 (NTB) wrecked 4.92 percent to close at VND5,800.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north lost 1.01 percent, or 0.7 points, to finish at 68.43 points. Trading volume severely dropped over the previous trading session as nearly 27.68 million shares changed hands at a value of VND270 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares shed 0.26 percent, or 0.08 points, to 30.31 points at 1:50 pm local time. A total of 186,330 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.52 billion.
