Stocks jump on returning cash flow

Shares of 305 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange sprang 1.55 per cent, or 7.22 points, to close at 472.87 points with 223 gainers, 53 losers, and 34 stocks remaining unchanged.

Trading volume on the city bourse declined slightly over the previous trading session as more than 88.08 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.29 trillion, down 4 per cent over the previous day.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) was the most active share in volume with 6.86 million shares changing hands.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) tailed after with 3.04 million shares.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, tagged along with 3.02 million shares traded.

Big winners on the city bourse today included Becamex Asphalt & Concrete Joint Stock Company (ACC), Hoa Binh Construction & Real Estate Corporation (HBC), Ha Do Group Joint Stock Company (HDG), Cho Lon Water Supply Joint Stock Company (CLW), and Idico Urban & House Development Joint Stock Company (UIC).

Royal International Corporation (RIC) collapsed 5 per cent to close at VND7,600.

South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG) deflected 4.82 per cent to close at VND23,700.

Vietnam Golf Tourism Joint Stock Company (VNG) ditched 4.76 per cent to close at VND6,000.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – soared 7.89 points, or 1.48 per cent, to end at 542.78. Among its 30 members, 26 stocks rallied and 4 closed unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north surged 1.25 per cent, or 0.98 points, to close at 79.55 points with 247 winners, 46 losers, and 51 stocks treading water. Around 85.12 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND846.88 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares grew 0.03 per cent, or 0.01 points, to close at 35.19 points. A total of 187,680 shares changed hands at VND1.52 billion.
