Stocks close week in green; sentiment remains low

The gauge which tracks 297 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange strengthened 0.46 percent, or 1.9 points, to close at 414.49 points.

Across the benchmark, 140 stocks gained, 71 lost, while 91 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse dropped by 25 percent in both volume and value over the previous day as around 21.8 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND329 billion.

Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) topped the list of most active shares by volume for the second day with 1.72 million shares changing hands.

Ho Chi Minh City-based Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) chased after with 1.43 million shares.

Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Joint Stock Company 584 (NTB) came next with 1.33 million shares traded.

Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) sprang 5.56 percent to close at VND1,900.

Khang An Investment Real Estate Joint Stock Company (KAC) jumped 5 percent to VND16,800.

Lilama 10 Joint Stock Company (L10) curbed its two-day losing streak, regaining 4.88 percent to VND8,600.

Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) tumbled 6.67 percent to close at VND1,400.

Post & Telecommunications Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC) declined the second day, losing 4.84 percent to VND17,700.

Lix Detergent Joint Stock Company (LIX) weakened 4.8 percent to VND31,700.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north also rebounded, saving 0.12 percent, or 0.08 points, to finish at 69.19 points. Around 24.2 million shares changed hands at a value of VND256 billion.

The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares surged 0.7 percent, or 0.21 points, to 30.38 points at 2:10 pm local time. A total of 59,630 shares changed hands at a value of VND417 million.
