The Supportive Fund for Cancer Patients – Bright Future Fund, founded in June 2012 in Hanoi , is a non-profit organisation and has spent VND 24 billion (US$ 1.04 million) to supported 24,000 patients; VND400 billion to provide cancer drugs to poor patients; and given free cancer screenings to 78,000 people for the past 7 years.
On the same day, a delegation of the High Command of the Naval Region 3 visited and sent Tet greetings to soldiers, military officials and local people on Con Co Island in the coastal central province of Quang Tri.
The delegation offered incenses to heroic martyrs at the monument commemorating the soldiers sacrificing themselves to protect the island.
In addition, Thua Thien Hue provincial Border Guard Command presented bookshelves to local people in Phu Van district and 50 law books to fishermen in Phu Thuan commune as part of the campaign “ Enhancing law dissemination and education for cadres, people in border areas and islands in period 2017 – 2021”.
The Labor Union of Ho Chi Minh City on the day held a ceremony at Children’s Cultural House Thu Duc district to hand over 2,100 bus tickets to workers of industrial parks of Binh Chieu, Linh Trung 1 and 2.
The Labor Union of the city also offered 1,968 bus tickets and 1,968 gifts worth VND4.5 billion to workers in Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, Saigon Hi-tech Park, industrial parks of Hiep Phuoc, Tan Tao, Tan Binh, Vinh Loc and Tay Bac Cu Chi.
The program aims to support employees to return to their hometowns during the coming Tet holiday season. The annual charity program had handed over 269,371 bus tickets to poor workers over the past 10 years with a total capital of around VND135 bilillion.
Labor unions, organizations and businesses across the city also plan to provide transport for more than 15,000 employees back home for Tet.
The Compatriot Association of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang in Ho Chi Minh city presented 550 bicycles worth VND1.1 billion to poor students in the province; 50 scholarships worth VND2 million of each to students and 200 gifts to workers who are studying and working in HCMC.
