Speed limits adjusted on Vinh Hao–Phan Thiet, My Thuan–Can Tho expressways

The Vietnam Road Administration has approved new speed regulations on two expressways, applying different limits based on vehicle types to enhance traffic safety.

Under the new plan, passenger cars, buses with fewer than 29 seats, and trucks with a gross weight under 3.5 tons will be allowed a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour. Other vehicles, including sleeper buses, will have a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, while the minimum speed on both routes remains at 60 kilometers per hour.

Currently, both expressways operate with a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour and a minimum of 60 kilometers per hour.

The Vinh Hao–Phan Thiet Expressway stretches over 100 kilometers and runs through Lam Dong Province, while the My Thuan–Can Tho Expressway is nearly 23 kilometers long and located in Vinh Long Province.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, the adjustment is part of efforts to improve traffic safety, particularly on expressways developed in phases with four lanes and non-continuous emergency stopping lanes, where the current maximum speed is set at 90 kilometers per hour.
