From now until February 2020, there will be about seven high tides causing sea level rise and salt intrusion in the Southern region. Coming high tides are predicted to unleash heavy flooding in HCMC. They will be fueled with northeast monsoon to worsen the flooding.
Residents in low lying areas and estuaries in HCMC and the Mekong Delta should take the initiative in coping with high tides.
In HCMC high tides usually cause flooding in Hanoi Highway in Thu Duc and District 9, Ben Cat tunnel in National Highway 1A, Le Van Luong and Nguyen Binh street in Nha Be district, Binh Quoi and Nguyen Huu Canh in Binh Thanh District, Ho Hoc Lam in Binh Tan district and others.
