Senegalese mule smuggles 1.6 kg of cocaine in stomach
A Senegalese drug smuggler swallowing 77 capsules of cocaine to bring them into Vietnam was arrested at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, announced the Customs Department at Tan Son Nhat Airport yesterday.
The Customs Department said that its staff and Crime Investigation Police from the Ministry of Public Security and Police in Ho Chi Minh City have recently caught a 39-year-old courier from Senegal smuggling nearly 1.6 kilograms of cocaine in his stomach from his country to Vietnam.
The department employees detected the Senegalese mule in the flight No. BL30 through three countries including Nigeria, Ethiopia and Thailand before entering the S-shaped country.
The smuggler used his stomach as container to transport the contraband to avoid police’s supervision. He swallowed total 77 capsules of cocaine in his belly and zipped through the customs departments in three countries before being caught in Vietnam.
The mule had hostile to customs officers but at last, he was under police’s control to undergo an x-ray test which showed a strange item in his stomach. Police escorted him to the Military Hospital 175 for moving out cocaine from his stomach.
The amount of cocaine in his stomach is worth nearly VND10 billion ($431,005).
