The Labor Federation in HCMC held a seminar on April 4 agreeing to order all sectors to coordinate in building kindergartens for children of workers in industrial parks.
This project will need government and private enterprise cooperation, said Ngo Thi Minh, deputy head of National Assembly’s Committee of Culture and Education of the Youth.
Kids in public facilities receive VND3.4 million (US$161) in aid per month while children in private schools do not receive any support, said Mrs. Minh
The city has 419 public kindergartens and 488 private schools with 1,490 licensed private daycare centers and 421 unlicensed private daycare centers, according to the HCMC Department of Education and Training.
Though the city has encouraged building more kindergartens, 11 wards have no facility. The demand exceeds the supply in industrial parks in suburban districts.
Attending the seminar were 200 representatives from related agencies and workers of companies in the city.
