River water levels at Tan Chau and Chau Doc in An Giang Province have fallen to 0.25 meter and 0.35 meter respectively.

Recent high salinity has forced residents in many areas of Ben Tre and Kien Giang provinces to buy freshwater for daily use.

Salinity levels of 4‰ have reached 40 kilometers up Ben Tre’s main rivers.

In some sections of Cua Dai and Ham Luong rivers, the salinity has been as high as 21‰.

In forecasts for the next few days, seawater will continue to 50 kilometers inland, seriously affecting many areas in Ben Tre Province.
