Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper and benefactors have given gifts to the disadvantaged to help them to have happy Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays.

Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper and benefactors have given gifts to the disadvantaged to help them to have happy Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays.

The newspaper and Imex Pan-Pacific Group presented 500 gifts to persons on social welfare schemes and to some poor and needy households in Duc Hoa district of Long An province in the Mekong delta on January 27.

Gifts worth VND190 million were also distributed to poor patients in the general hospital in Hau Nghia district and to families in the welfare brackets within the police forces.

On the same day, Vietnam Customs and the Phuong Nam Company Ltd, which is involved in commerce and trade, distributed some 500 gifts to disadvantaged households and families under the social welfare policy in Binh Hung commune in district Binh Chanh district through Sai Gon Giai Phong. Each gift was worth VND300, 000.

The Communist Youth Union wing of the newspaper has also helped towards the construction of a charitable house for Mr. On Van Phuoc in Can Duoc district of Long An province in the Mekong delta.  The charitable house cost VND27 million towards which newspaper readers contributed VND15 million.

On January 28, the newspaper and the Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients distributed 200 gifts worth VND50 million to 200 disadvantaged and poor families in Long Hoa commune of Can Gio district in HCMC.
