Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index snapped its 13-day winning streak, making correction on September 14 as investors sold shares to take profits.
The gauge which tracks 295 companies and five closed-end funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange went down 0.51 percent, or 2.41 points, to close at 466.99 points.
There were 107 gainers, 138 losers, and 55 stocks remained unmoved on the southern trading floor.
Trading on the city bourse rose by 23 percent in volume and 16 percent in value over the previous day as around 81.36 million shares changed hands at a value of VND1.28 trillion.
Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) was the most active share in volume with 4.31 million shares changing hands.
It was followed by PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVT) with 2.86 million shares.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, came in third with 2.48 million shares traded.
Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) and Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HCM) both demolished 5 percent to VND15,200, and VND19,000 respectively.
Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral Joint Stock Company (BGM) curbed its seven-straight-trading-session rising streak, giving up 4.96 percent to VND11,500.
Khang Dien Investment & Trading House Joint Stock Company (KDH) ruined 4.93 percent to VND34,700.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) surged 5.56 percent to close at VND1,900.
Tai Nguyen Corporation (TNT), Viet - Han Corporation (VHG), and Dien Quang Joint Stock Company (DQC) all sprang 5 percent to VND12,600, VND8,400, and VND18,900 respectively.
Hamico Mineral Group (KSH) escalated for six consecutive trading sessions, rallying 4.98 percent to VND23,200.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north slashed 2.42 percent, or 1.92 points, to finish at 77.33 points. Trading volume on the northern floor topped 94.75 million shares worth VND1.05 trillion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares also adjusted 0.28 percent, or 0.09 points, to 31.72 points. A total of 336,400 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.89 billion at 11:30 am local time.
