Rescuers save girl falling into deep hole

After nine hours of efforts rescuers successfully saved a 7-year-old girl who fell into a deep hole alongside the water pipe of a drilled well in the southern province of Binh Duong yesterday.

Nguyen Tran Tu Anh  fell into the hole while she was playing with several other children near the drilled well in Tan Vinh Hiep Commune, Tan Uyen Town in the early morning. She became stuck at a depth of over 15 meters.
 
The hole which has the depth of over 75 meters was formed when the well was drilled about a month ago.

Local authorities deployed over 100 people, including police officers and firefighters, to the scene to join the rescue mission. Rescuers used hoes, shovels and three excavators to dig hundreds of cubic meters of soil around the hole for over nine hours until they reached the girl’s location.
 
During the process, drinking water, milk and oxygen were pumped through pipes down the hole to the victim. The rescuing team has worked in the night with determination to save the girl. After 9 hours, their efforts were rewarded when they saved the girl out of the dwell.
 
On the same day, chairman of People’s Committee in Binh Duong Province Tran Van Nam lauded the rescuers and residents who participated in the rescue. He asked Tan Uyen Town local government to have commends and rewards to those participants and issue penalties on dwell investor.
 
People’s Committee in Tan Uyen Town yesterday commended 9 teams and 66 people who took part in the rescuing. They were rewarded VND77 million (US$ 3,530)
