‘Vietnam Rising’ Milk Fund on July 22 organised 40,000 glasses of milk for 440 underprivileged children and children under the social welfare bracket for daily consumption in Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang Province in the Mekong Delta.
This program is supported by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam Children Sponsor Fund and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).
This is the fifth year of the program, with the goal being to reduce the ratio of malnourished children nationwide. Through the program, Vietnamese children will be provided with a glass of milk every day.
40,000 glasses of milk to poor children in Kien Giang Province are just part of the total 67,000 glasses of milk for children in the province.
After five years of operation, the fund has provided 20 million glasses of milk worth VND75 billion (US$3.5 million) to 286,000 disadvantaged children across the country.
