President Truong Tan Sang visits Tran Dai Nghia Memorial Site

President Truong Tan Sang visited in Tran Dai Nghia Memorial Site to check construction progress at My Phu 1 Village in Tam Binh District, Vinh Long Province on February 16.

This memorial site officially began construction on Nov. 24, 2013 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Professor Tran Dai Nghia’s birth. It is expected to be completed in 2015. The construction is built on a 16,000 square-meter area surrounded by beautiful landscapes.

During the visit, the President stressed that Tran Dai Nghia Memorial Site is a national cultural construction, which expresses deep gratitude for Professor Nghia’s contributions and educates tradition of revolution for Vietnamese youth in the Vinh Long Province.

The project was funded by a national and social budget totaling VND 50 billion.

Professor Nghia was born on Sept. 13, 1913 in Tam Binh Commune, Vinh Long Province. He was a scientist, military engineer, and father of the defense industry of Vietnam. He also was a Major-General and an academic. He was awarded the Order of Ho Chi Minh and named a Hero of Labor.
