The Customs Enforcement Team under Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department transferred document of Sa Huynh Trading and Production Company to the Investigation Agency under Ho Chi Minh City Police Department for further investigation after it discovered the company imported Chinese goods but declared as high quality Vietnamese ones.
According to the case file, in September 2018, Sa Huynh Trading and Production Company in Tran Xuan Soan Street in District 7 opened an import declaration of a shipment as components of glass oven with a value of more than VND212 million.
Due to suspicions, the city Customs Department liaised with the Customs Branch at Saigon Port Border Gate Zone 4 had inspected the shipment. Through checking, the Customs Department found 1,300 brand-new ovens.
Each oven was separated into components including plastic covers, glass bowls, and oven timers.
In its written document later, Sa Huynh company announced that its partner sent the wrong products. When the customs agency invited the company’s representative, Huynh Thi Sa Quol hailing from the Mekong delta province of Soc Trang, to work with.
However, she did not come and authorized Nguyen The Tai to work with the customs. Tai said he was a customs broker and did not know anything about the shipment.
According to further probe, Sa Quol stated that she has not set up any company named Sa Huynh. She admitted to work for Asanzo in HCMC with her husband but she quitted the job and returned homeland.
At the same time, The Tai and Truong Ngoc Liem came to police station announcing that they are partners to open Sa Huynh Company and hired Sa Quol as director.
Through probing, police investigators discovered that document relating to Huynh Thi Sa Quol was bogus. Being a company representative, Liem admitted it.
Before, Asanzo Vietnam Electronics JSC has reportedly been selling finished products imported from China labelled as “Made in Vietnam” goods, which has stirred public concern over whether buyers and consumers are being cheated.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered competent agencies to work on the case and issue harsh penalties on violators according to the present law.
