Party Central Committee appraises preparations for national congress

Issues high on the agenda include personnel planning for the 12th Party Central Committee, Political Bureau, Secretariat and Commission of Inspection. It will also discuss draft working and election regulations for the 12th national congress.

Delegates will hear opinions contributed by all-level Party congresses and the public on draft documents which will be submitted to the 12th National Party Congress, slated for early 2016.

The implementation of the resolution on Party building issued at the 11th Party Central Committee's fourth meeting will also be reviewed.

At the opening ceremony, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said by November 6, 68 centrally-run Party organisations sent their reports on the 12th National Party Congress's draft documents. The Viet Nam Fatherland Front, social organisations, administrations at different levels and many sectors held workshops and conferences to collect recommendations. Large numbers of Party members, people from all strata and overseas Vietnamese also sent in their suggestions on the drafts.

He asked the Party Central Committee to thoroughly consider the opinions, which have been sorted and summed up in 1,547 pages of reports, and look at issues of contention so as to fine-tune the drafts.

After hearing the Politburo's report on personnel preparation, the Central Committee will vote on the list of eligible candidates for the 12th Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Central Committee's Secretariat and the Central Committee's Commission of Inspection in the 12th tenure. After that, they will propose eligible candidates among current Politburo members and Central Committee Secretariat for the four key leading positions.

The Party chief stressed the Central Committee's 13th meeting is of paramount importance since it centres around preparations for the 12th National Party Congress.

The meeting is scheduled to run through December 22.

In the morning, the delegates heard the Politburo's report on the opinions of Party congresses and the public regarding the draft political report that will be submitted to the 12th Party Congress, slated for early 2016.

They also heard the Politburo's report and opinions related to the performance of socio-economic development plans for 2011-2015, and orientations and tasks for socio-economic development in the next five years.

In the afternoon, the delegates worked in groups to discuss the collection of comments on draft documents to the upcoming 12th National Party Congress.

The meeting, scheduled to run through December 22, is expected to give much attention to preparations for the 12th National Party Congress.
