Vietnam reported one more H1N1 casualty on March 12.

The Center of Preventive Medicine in the central province of Quang Nam confirmed the death of 47 year old Do Van Tuong from Tam Ky City of the fatal H1N1 virus.  This is the first reported death in the central province.

Tuong was hospitalized in the general hospital on February 22 with symptoms of high fever and breathing failure. When his condition worsened, he was transferred for further treatment in a bigger hospital in Da Nang. However, all efforts by doctors proved futile as his condition only worsened. He died four days later.

Medics at the Center of Preventive Medicine helped his relatives to conduct the funeral proceedings according to regulations. They also took blood samples from his relatives and all doctors who had contact with him at the General Hospital. The test results showed that both his wife and daughter were positive H1N1 virus case. They have been immediately moved to quarantine.
