The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on December 29 said that it will organize ‘Vietnam Environmental Protection Awards’ every two years, with three different kinds of awards for individuals, organizations and communities.
The Ministry held a closing ceremony, awarding environmental prizes in the period 2001-2010, and launched the Vietnam Environmental Awards for 2011 as well.
Over past ten years, 158 organizations and individuals have received environmental awards in five sectors, which include - education and training and environment communication; the reduction of environmental pollution, environmental restoration and improvement; application of information technology in environmental protection; state management on environmental protection; and finally, natural resources protection and conservation.
The number of individuals and organization registered for environmental protection awards is increasing every year.
From 2011, the sectors that will be chosen for awards will include - education and training and environment communication; application of information technology in environmental protection; reduction of environmental pollution, environmental restoration and improvement; preservation of diversified biology; and finally, coping with climate change and state management on environmental protection.
